Sidley Austin LLP

Sophistication through design.

Contractor: Structure Tone
Architect: Gensler
Approx. Value: +£2m

Multinational law firm Sidley Austin became the first major tenant of the distinctive development at 70 St Mary Axe (affectionately nicknamed the Can of Ham), as they took seven floors for their UK headquarters.

The 100,000 sq ft, Gensler designed scheme showcases a stunning blend of finishes, utilising various textures and tones in a sophisticated manner with a high level of detail.

The intelligent use of lighting throughout the floors creates a striking, contemporary theme that exemplifies the professional nature of the company.

The substantial joinery package demanded concise, effective collaboration across all levels of the project team, whether interacting with other trades or our own supply chain.

Our design and contract teams worked closely with main contractor Structure Tone to deliver some truly specialist joinery. From over 160 sq m of solid oak wall panels to numerous banquette seating areas, quartz clad teapoints to the stunning underlit reception desk, the joinery plays a central role in this spectacular project.
