Meet the Team #9: David Harris, Project Manager
At the end of 2025, we were delighted to welcome our latest Project Manager to the team, David Harris. With 23 years of experience already under his belt, he’s wasted no time kicking off his journey at Thorpes, diving straight into one of our major projects in London.
David’s Story
To begin his career in construction, David completed a fabrication apprenticeship at a sheet metalwork company, where he spent 10 years honing his skills. The relationships he built along the way led to him being recruited by one of his clients, becoming a bespoke, specialist joinery Project Manager.
He then progressed within the joinery world, picking up valuable experience and delivering a number of projects across the UK. In the next 10 years, he would go on to lead various departments, further progressing his skills and gaining a real understanding of the bigger picture.
David joined us in late 2025, and has wasted absolutely no time getting stuck in, working on two key projects for us in the short time he has been at the company so far.
When asked what his favourite part of the role is, David explained: “taking a concept that only exists in digital form and turning it into reality, transforming something from imagination into real life. It’s a rewarding process, and there is something tangible to be proud of at the end.
“High pressure and high reward. As PM, I’m tasked with generating the blueprint for how we are going to achieve the goal set, and then managing and mitigating the inevitable challenges and risks to keep us on track through to completion.”
David already acknowledges that no two projects are the same at Thorpes, but he views this as a positive; he enjoys the challenges this poses, as well as discovering new processes and materials along the way.
Outside of work, David is a devoted family man and health and fitness enthusiast. Most of his spare time is spent out and about with his wife and son, at the park, exploring the woods, or at kids' clubs and parties - while still squeezing in 5 AM gym sessions 5 times a week!
David describes himself as “a ball of routine and discipline”, and nowhere is this clearer than in David’s love for a Rubik’s Cube - he reckons he’s solved every variation that exists!
It’s been great to see David hit the ground running at Thorpes, and we’re excited to see his journey continue to unfold. Please join us in welcoming him to the team.
