Meet the team #4: Latest additions to our factory team
We’re excited to introduce several new faces who have recently joined, and in one case, re-joined our factory team.
Now that they’ve settled in, it’s time to get to know them a little better.
Alex Price
Alex began his journey with Thorpes five years ago after completing his Level 2 Carpentry qualification, initially joining us as a bench joiner.
After three years, he left to broaden his experience in oak framing and roofing, skills he now brings back to the team after re-joining earlier this year.
Alex’s favourite part of the job is seeing a project come together and the satisfaction that comes with a completed build. He also enjoys the variety each job offers.
A loyal Manchester United fan, Alex spends his downtime at the gym or out on the golf course.
Carl Finch
Carl brings more than a decade of construction experience to the team.
He began his career as a Boat Building Apprentice after earning a Level 2 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery.
Since then, he has built a solid background in building and shopfitting, which he now applies in his role as a bench joiner at Thorpes.
Carl finds the build phase and seeing the final product the most rewarding parts of his work.
A lover of the outdoors, he enjoys hiking and attending festivals. One of his proudest achievements was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro last year to raise money for charity.
Andy Hay
Andy joined Thorpes at the end of 2024, bringing with him over 13 years of CNC operation experience.
Interestingly, his career in the construction industry started by chance - he applied for a warehouse packing role but was instead trained on a CNC machine, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Andy appreciates the consistency of his work, which allows him to refine his skills while still enjoying the tangible results of each build.
Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, playing pool, and the occasional rave.
Kieran McGloin
At just 16 years old, Kieran is one of our youngest team members here at Thorpes, joining us as an apprentice joiner after finishing school.
He’s embracing the challenge and enjoys the variety and physical aspects of the job.
Kieran is eager to keep learning and developing his skills throughout his apprenticeship, which he’s due to complete next year.
When he’s not at work, you’ll likely find him at the gym, where his training supports the practical, hands-on nature of his role.
If there’s one thing they all share, it’s the satisfaction of seeing each joinery project through to completion. That final result is what makes the work truly worthwhile.
We’re excited to have Alex, Carl, Andy, and Kieran as part of the Thorpes team and look forward to seeing their continued growth with us.
Please join us in welcoming them to the team.
