Standard Chartered P1
Situated in the heart of central London, Standard Chartered’s UK headquarters has been thoughtfully designed as a dedicated global hub for the bank.
With Phase One now complete, the space brings together bespoke joinery, refined materials and considered detailing to reflect the brand’s values and global presence. The result is a sophisticated yet welcoming environment, carefully tailored to support both employees and visiting clients.
The Design
The journey begins with a strong first impression. On arrival, visitors are greeted by a striking bespoke reception desk, designed to anchor the space and set the tone for what follows.
Sitting alongside it is a matching bar, seamlessly aligned with the reception and spanning an impressive 8.75 metres. Its curved form not only adds visual interest but also offers a sense of privacy as it wraps naturally around the corner, encouraging interaction and collaboration.
Both the reception desk and bar were constructed using MDF and bendy ply, allowing for the fluid forms to take shape. A carefully curated combination of finishes elevates the pieces, blending rich tones and textures to a striking effect.
Jack Nicholas champagne & white gold-sprayed plinths sit alongside sprayed European oak, creating a balance of warmth and sophistication. To ensure these pieces are just as practical as they are aesthetic, Cosentino’s Ocean Storm Silestone was applied for the worktops, providing durability while completing the overall aesthetic.
A welcoming client experience
To the left of the reception sits a dedicated client suite, designed to offer a comfortable and relaxed setting for guests. Bespoke seating frameworks and integrated planters introduce a natural element to the space, softened further by the neutral warmth of European oak. Above, a Lio feature ceiling mirrors the same veneer, creating a sense of cohesion and drawing the eye upward. Paired with Luana lighting, the ceiling plays a key role in shaping a warm, inviting atmosphere that encourages people to pause, sit and engage.
It was a pleasure to work alongside Overbury and M Moser Associates. The project brings together carefully selected materials, refined detailing and integrated technology to support the needs of a modern global workplace. Each element has been designed with longevity and purpose in mind, resulting in an environment that feels cohesive, considered and reflective of Standard Chartered’s identity.
We look forward to building on this foundation and seeing the next phase.
Reimagining the boardroom
Within the client meeting room, a bespoke boardroom table takes centre stage. Inspired by the original table that once occupied the space, this reimagined design retains its familiar shape and presence while being updated to meet modern requirements. Integrated technology has been thoughtfully incorporated, with three screens set into the centre of the table to provide clear, accessible viewing of AV content for all users.
The same veneer continues throughout the boardroom, flowing across the table and wall panels to create a cohesive and polished finish. This consistency of material reinforces the sense of quality and attention to detail that runs throughout the project.
