Thorpes Joinery are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our talented design team.

The successful candidate will work out of our Market Harborough HQ, reporting directly into our Design Manager.

Skillset

This is a role demanding precision, a strong work ethic and the ability to work to deadlines under pressure.

Experience in specialist joinery is preferred.

Overall, we are looking for a candidate who:

  • Prior experience as a Joinery Draughtsman within the interior fit-out or bespoke joinery sector would be preferable - hands on experience from shopfloor/ fitting/ CNC etc.

  • Proficient in Inventor or similar 3D software packages (i.e. Solidworks).

  • 2D AutoCAD is not crucial, but would be beneficial.

  • Strong understanding of joinery construction techniques, materials, and finishes.

  • Ability to read and translate architectural/design drawings into workshop-ready documents.

  • Attention to detail, organisation, and time management.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities

Our industry is fast-paced and constantly evolving, working for a host of high-end main contractors, architects, and end clients on award-winning schemes.

Below is a summary of what broadly constitutes the cornerstone of this role’s responsibilities.

  • Produce accurate and detailed joinery workshop drawings for bespoke furniture, cabinetry, and interior fit-out elements.

  • Interpret architectural and design intent drawings into technical shop drawings for manufacturing.

  • Coordinate with project managers, designers, and workshop teams to ensure buildability and material suitability.

  • Maintain drawing documentation and produce CNC geometries for nesting.

  • Attend site meetings and surveys where required to support project delivery.

For all candidates, we require you to provide examples of your previous drawings for review.
