One of our most recently completed projects for the leading global advisory company Willis Towers Watson was particularly memorable for us at Thorpes Joinery, and not just because we supplied several bespoke joinery items across all 22 floors of their skyscraper HQ building in London.

This modern and stylish fit-out was one of the first projects to be completed in our new factory in Market Harborough, in fact, the 12m long reception desk actually began manufacture in our previous home 12 miles away in Great Glen! This challenge made our project with Structuretone and HLW even more memorable, as it was the first glimpse at the extended capabilities our new manufacture facility had to offer.

Working across 22 floors of this fantastic building, Thorpes designed, manufactured and installed a variety of different joinery elements - from stylish dividing screens comprised of carbon and painted steel rods with an oak veneered surround, to banquette seating and black steel pergolas visible at street level. Many floors shared design elements, with similar tea points and copy point joinery providing a feeling of consistency throughout, but floors 14, 16 and 22 had truly unique interiors such as: an academy, a food court, and a management meeting floor, the wall length map of London framed by our oak veneered paneling is a definite highlight!

With many elements in transition between our two factories, it was a challenging but rewarding task for our team. The results are outstanding and effortlessly reflects the professional and prestigous work of Willis Tower Watson.

This project was far from standard by any definition of the word! There was great variety from a joinery perspective, with a range of materials and designs utilised across the many floors in this modern workspace. Added to that was the challenge of ensuring we maintained our high standards whilst moving our entire base of operations.
