Finance Assistant - Purchase Ledger & Accounts


Role Summary

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the Purchase Ledger, ensuring that all purchase invoices are keyed into the system in a timely manner, matching to purchase orders and highlighting the differences.

As one of the UK’s most successful specialist joinery and finishes contractors we work with world-renowned architects, designers and contractors providing specialist joinery, furniture and finishes for global companies such as Spotify, Apple, Condé Nast  and Estée Lauder. 

Based in our Market Harborough headquarters the successful candidate will report directly to the Finance Director.


main duties

  • This role has a multitude of responsibilities, and the candidate is required to manage their own time to ensure that these are appropriately met.

    • Responsible for timely input and matching of purchase invoices

    • Investigating booking in queries with stores

    • Investigating general invoice queries from suppliers

    • Reconciliation of supplier statements

    • Reconciling purchase invoices and orders

    • Chasing of invoices previously paid as pro-forma

    • Issuing payment remittances to suppliers in a timely manner

    • Responsible for petty cash, issuing, recording and reconciling

    • Responsible for collating, uploading to Sage and reconciling credit card invoices

    • Collating and reconciling fuel card receipts

    • Completing the drivers working time directive summary

    • Assisting with general office duties which includes opening and distributing the post, reception duties and answering the phone

    • To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines where appropriate

    • To understand and comply with the Company Policies covering Sustainability, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and the Environment

    • To understand and comply with the Employees Handbook

    • To carry out any other such duties or responsibilities that may be reasonably required and that are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this position.

The person we are looking for should be conscientious and willing to learn, organised, an effective communicator and able to understand detailed information. They must show good interpersonal skills to form effective working relationships throughout all levels of our company structure. They should be able to deal with difficulties that arise in a professional manner.

IT literacy together with a base understanding of Microsoft Excel would be advantageous.
