Apprentice Joiners

we are currently seeking two apprentice joiners to join our team

Role Summary

To work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge to assist the Apprentice in completing their qualifications, increase awareness and experience and secure employment

main duties

  • To work within the shop-floor supervisory and management framework and participate in the manufacture and assembly of bespoke joinery items.

  • To adhere to existing working practices, methods and procedures.

  • To work under guided supervision at all times – do not perform tasks or operate machinery for which you are not trained and deemed competent.

  • To assist in the general cleaning duties required on the shop-floor if requested to do so.

  • To be actively involved in the development of this role to encompass further responsibilities in the future, through personal development and further training as and when required.

  • To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines where appropriate.

  • To understand and comply with the Company Policies covering Sustainability, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and the Environment.

  • To understand and comply with the Employees Handbook.

  • To carry out any other such duties or responsibilities that may be reasonably required and that are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this position.


Learn the process of understanding drawings and work in accordance with specifications

  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed

  • To cut and shape timber using a wide variety of bench tools and machinery

  • Assemble doors, windows, staircases and fitted furniture

  • Helping with installs on site

  • Attend College on a day release basis, and undertake any additional training as requested

  • Take part in the apprentice review process

  • Follow Health & Safety policy and procedures, including the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) where needed

  • Use all tools, equipment and materials safely

  • Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, customers and managers

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Can understand and follow instructions

  • Can work as part of a team

  • Good knowledge of English and communication skills

  • Good understanding of maths

  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times

  • Can pay close attention to detail

  • Can be flexible in work activities, locations and hours of work

  • Ability to work in external environments and work at height when needed


The position requires someone who has a strong desire to become a Joiner. The training requires commitment for a number of years, someone who is conscientious, has good communication skills, must be organised, can think on their feet and deal with themselves in a professional and confidential manner.

In return, the Company will offer a solid Joinery working experience along with a structured apprenticeship under the guidance of the CITB Apprenticeship framework.

There will be no direct decision making required. The apprentice must always work under the guidance and instruction of a supervisor or senior joiner.
