Trainee Commercial Manager
Thorpes Joinery are one of the UK’s leading Specialist Joinery and Finishes companies providing a fully-bespoke service to a range of globally known brands, mainly in Central London.
Due to planned and continued growth we are able to offer a new position within our Commercial & Estimating department in the capacity of Trainee Commercial Manager.
This role will provide support to our commercial and estimating teams working on a series of prestigious fit-out projects. Over time through both formal and on the job training this position could potentially provide an opportunity to develop into the role of either Commercial Manager or Estimator, both of which are interesting and rewarding careers, charged with project cost and control of multiple projects.
A bulk of this role will be in assisting the commercial and estimating departments with their tender returns.
Downloading project information from client cloud portals
Develop the ability to price specialist joinery and finish works
Measuring of materials
Visit sites in London and across the UK
Issuing and chasing sub contract and supplier enquiries
Managing variations on secured projects
Assisting with monthly valuations and working on regular reporting systems.
Building and maintaining client relationships
A motivated individual with a strong desire to learn and grow within the company
Strong time keeping with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Excellent computer literacy, in particular Microsoft Excel
GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English
Effective communication skills
A degree in a relevant course, such as quantity surveying
Construction industry experience preferable but not essential
Strong numeracy skills and an analytical mind
Personable, logical and able to work part of a close and dynamic team
