Great Portland Estates oversaw this brand-new development in the heart of Central London, transforming the former Post Office warehouse into a multi-use property consisting of residential, office and retail areas.

Described as a unique opportunity to experience Innermost London, the residential aspect of this development was carefully designed to blend in to the surrounding neighbourhood with quality finishes in every element.

The Thorpes Joinery team worked alongside Sherlock Interiors and Make Architects to design, manufacture, and install several specialist elements throughout the public areas, with a range of finishes coming together to create a scheme that feels both pragmatic and elegant.

Stained European oak to the bespoke timber work provides the consistency and this is complimented by unique elements such as specially procured bronze mesh, corian, Italian marble, fabric wrapped acoustic panels and upholstery.

This variety of materials allowed us to showcase our new capabilities, with a high level of craftsmanship across the project

The residential development of Rathbone Square was shortlisted for 2018’s Building Awards in the ‘Project of the Year’ category.

Rathbone Square introduced us to design and programming using BIM. The knowledge and experience gained on this project has prompted us to grow an in-house BIM capability which is now working collaboratively on a number of projects across Central London.
